/////////////////////////////////////////////// LEGO S:S&S EP PROCESS

LEFT: Yeah, that's an actual sprite of the hero of S:S&S EP, known as The Scythian. She was royal born in Scythia and heir to the throne. She now lives in exile in the rugged mountains of the Caucasus, far away from the fortresses & settlements where she is suspected of madness, homosexuality, devil worship, erratic behavior & worse: sworcery.

RIGHT: THAT IS A SCULPTURE MADE OF LEGO. NO, FOR REAL.

Mr. Clay Morrow, a Teletex reader & storyboard artist from Burbank, California, writes:

Having spent countless hours playing with Lego and then later with an NES and its pixels I've always felt a connection between the two! S&S really struck a chord with me and my kids, and it has us revisiting some old videogame systems that I had in storage.

Yes. It is an actual sculpture made of Lego, constructed, staged & photographed by Mr. Clay Morrow and his sons Ever & Levi. To get up close to the magical & revolutionary process pioneered by The Morrows, including the original photograph of the Lego sculpture and a rough digital schema of the figure, click here.

If you'd like to design your own Lego sculptures without the need to actually purchase the occasionally expensive Lego kits, or should you may wish to simply be more precise and strategic in your purchase of the aforementioned kits, you may wish to investigate the use of a tool that comes recommended from Mr. Morrow. It's a free-to-use 3-D application offered by Lego that was used to create the rough digital schema mentioned in the paragraph above. You can download the program in its entirety here.

1 000 000 thx to Clay, Ever & Levi Morrow, you guys ROCK! For more about the Morrows feel free to go here.

And yes, you may have seen the above images accompanying this awkwardly timed April Fool's Day news post.*

*To reconfirm: Nothing has been announced regarding plans for S:S&S EP on the iPad. NOTHING.

/////////////////////////////////////////////// DARK SECRET No.01: LUNACY

Mr. Brandon Boyer, a contributing editor at the internet website Boing Boing and friend of the people, has graciously chosen to give an account of his time with S:S&S EP. He divluges dark secrets about the project's lunatic ambitions & expresses considerable optimism in this lovely lovely post.

This post of Mr. Boyer's led to a follow-up post on videogame enthusiast blog Kotaku.com, wherein Luke Plunkett described S:S&S EP's 'bare-bones art style' as something that "...would have happened were Hellboy's Mike Mignola making games for the Amiga in the early 90's". BOOM. You can read the remainder of Mr. Plunkett's post here.

Meanwhile, veteran videogame journalist John Davison, now Editron-In-Chief of the suddenly respectable videogame enthusiast magazine Gamepro, has reported that he finds S:S&S EP 'fascinating'. You may retrieve this tidbit from within Gamepro's daily news-wrap up for March 5th 2010, a link for which can be found right the heck here.

Pursuant to the above, Mr. Andrew Webster, a Toronto-area enthusiast videogame journalist & freelance writer has taken it upon himself to investigate the matter, stopping by the Capy offices to explore a reasonable fascimile of the GDC build on Gamepro's behalf. You may reasonably expect Mr. Webster's S:S&S EP 'preview' to appear in Gamepro Magazine or at Gamepro.com in the weeks to come. In the meantime you may wish to read Mr. Webster's previous article regarding S:S&S EP following the project's initial public presentation at Toronto's Hand Eye Society Social alongside Capy's Heartbeat in early February of this year, an article which is still available after all these moons on Ars Technica right here.

On a related topic, a distillation of the recent ROCK/TALK, a well-trafficked feature at Boing Boing created by Superbrothers with Mr. Brandon Boyer that was derived from a 'rapidfire indie rant' at GDC 2010 on 'the native language of videogames', has been posted to THE 1 CONSOLE, a barebones blog-type-thing on the topic of videogames. You can read this distillation and see a handful of the original slides, untouched & uncensored, right here.
