/////////////////////////////////////////////// STILL HIP DEEP IN THE CREATION PROCESS?

placeholder subtitle line : : : : : : : : : : : : : :

There have been an alarming number of requests to purchase Superbrothers & S:S&S EP merchandise. To those brave ladies & gentlemen, we offer you our apologes and the following three bullet points:

  • Super grateful for the interest.
  • No time to do anything about it. Hip deep in the creation process. Apologies.
  • We hear you, we love you, thx for getting in touch. We'll be in touch before too long. :)

Oh, the artwork?

Why yes, that's 'Information Superhighwave' from this time last year. Its inclusion is in no way connected with the above text. It was an illustration for the June 2009 issue of Seed Magazine, a glossy science enthusiast publication out of New York City that looks a bit like WIRED only way better IMHOLMAO. It was for an article about the global effort to convert the collected oceanographic findings of planet Earth into Google's geographic data format to enable the cubicle privateers, private boatmen, tourists & indoor beach bums of this world to enjoy a simulated travel experience.

The reason for the artwork's inclusion here is that the staff at Superbrothers have recently received word that the image will appear in the prestigious book AMERICAN ILLUSTRATION 28 a little later this year. Also, that one science dude is hip deep.

/////////////////////////////////////////////// THE CITIZEN KANE OF SMACK TALK?

nerd bait : : : : : : : : : : : : : :

THE CITIZEN KANE OF SMACK TALK: "I'm not too old to "get" video games, but I may be too well-read." via Roger Ebert aka @ebertchicago

BEING HONEST MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER, some great advice from a can of peas in a classic film from yesteryear: http://tinyurl.com/y4v35f4

Ok, everyone's sick of this, I know, but 2 000 comments on Ebert's recent flamebait - just imagine! I hope that thread is preserved forever. Highlights:

AS SEEN IN EBERT'S COMMENT SECTION: "Hideo Kojima, creator of "Metal Gear Solid," is our Sergei Eisenstein." Riiiiigghhhhht.

ANOTHER COMMENT: "Being told that something Isn't Possible and Can Never Be is a wondrous spur to artistic creativity..." Right-on!

HEY eBERT: so you like Edgar Allan Poe? See him re-interpreted for the young audiences of the 21st century: http://tinyurl.com/y5p5njh

"I've got billions and billions of rhymes to flex. I've got more rhymes than Carl Sagan's got turtlenecks", rad lyric by The Beastie Boys.

The above are a collection of Instantaneous Micro-Bulletins broadcast by @the1console starting at 5:54PM EST on April 19th 2010. Click here to read a synopsis of the recently featured ROCK/TALK in this harsh new light.

/////////////////////////////////////////////// NECESSARILY TESSELATED?

rustic 21st century minimalism : : : : : : : : : : : : : :

Using individual blocks of color to form a precise visual statement is a technique that dates back through the ages at least as far as 4th century Macedonia, arguably reaching its apex with the Christian mosaics of the byzantine empire eight centuries later. It is largely due to the impact of the pixel - that most basic unit of an electronic display - that these grid based pictures are enjoying a degree of ubiquity in the here and now.

For many among us, this peculiarly abstracted visual language hearkens back only as far as the antiquated computer technology & electronic amusements of yesteryear. Necessarily tessellated to accommodate the limited capacities of the machines of that age, the scenarios that were presented in these I/O cinematograms were nonetheless enchanting, their stories & structures often derived from a rich international tapestry of folktale, myth, imagination & human experience.
