/////////////////////////////////////////////// THE ROLE OF SOCIAL SUPPORT NETWORKS

Our research indicates that social support networks will play a significant role in the positive outcome of the S:S&S EP experiment. With this in mind we would like to present two of our initiatives:

1. On Twitter we have established a reasonably unique hashtag like this #sworcery

2. On Facebook we have established a friendly page for you to like at www.facebook.com/sworcery

/////////////////////////////////////////////// WHO IS THE ARCHETYPE?

S:S&S EP presents a yarn about a lonely warrior monk lady on a woeful errand in the remote mountain wilderness of the Caucasus, far from the Scythian steppes. This concept is a deliberate distortion of Robert E. Howard's seminal works of sword and sorcery fiction. Any student of Hyborian geography will tell you that The Caucasus of around 1000 BC is a loose inspiration for the home country of Howard's immortal creation, Conan the Cimmerian.

S:S&S EP differs from other genre fiction in that the story is framed by a fellow known as The Archetype who is purportedly conducting a psycho social audiovisual experiment on an unsuspecting 21st century audience. This enigmatic man is intended to echo intellectuals & entertainers like Carl G. Jung, Carl Sagan, Rod Serling, William Shatner & faux Sony spokesman Kevin Butler. The Archetype was, however, created with a very specific individual in mind.

Ladies & gentlemen, it is an honor & a privilege to present to you Mr. Clive Holden, aka the voice of The Archetype in our just-published "S:S&S EP Audience Calibration Procedure" clip, linked above.

Clive is an established artist, author & filmmaker perhaps best known for his feature length work 'Trains of Winnipeg: 14 Film Poems', released in 2004 & featuring music by members of The Weakerthans. After reading glowing reviews in both of Toronto's weekly newspapers I had the good fortune to attend the premiere in this city. The film had a tremendous impact on me, so it was an incredible pleasure to discover, years later, that Clive lived up the street from me on Toronto's east side. It is a rare thing indeed to occasionally play frisbee with one of your heroes.

Clive is technologically quite literate - many of his audiovisual installation works involve web programming & some level of interactivity - however he is relative newcomer to the field of videogames. Lately his interest has deepened considerably and he will soon be making waves of his own on Apple's touchtronic machinery. This is a very exciting development for me & I think it represents an interesting side-effect of Toronto's DIY videogame shenadigans.

If you enjoy Clive's reading voice you may also enjoy his hauntingly awesome sound + spoken word compositions Neighbours Walk Softly, Nanaimo Station, The Jew & The Irishman & Wind, all of which are available for you to listen to at the Cyclops Press website right now right here.

Clips of Clive's film works from Trains of Winnipeg are freely available here & it is possible to watch the film in its entirety for those of you who subscribe to MUBI.

You can follow Clive on twitter if you wish, he's over at @cliveholden, just so you know.

/////////////////////////////////////////////// IT IS ALMOST A TIME OF MIRACLES

If you have been a long-time reader of Teletex Bulletins you will know all about our propensity for 'burying the lead', obscuring the most pertinent information by placing it in amongst tangentially relevant text. This is as it should be - Superbrothers Inc. is not a news organization, our focus is more broad.

You may have gleaned from the final frames of the above-linked clip that we are predicting a launch for S:S&S EP 'when the day & the night are in balance', around the vernal equinox. Our first release will be for the iPad, with an iPhone & iPod Touch to follow a within the subsequent lunar cycle.

We have a few other announcements to share with you in the days & weeks ahead, like what Jim Guthrie might or might not be up to & if there will be a local launch event at some point. We will of course keep you posted with any pertinent news when the time comes. Before any of that comes to pass we are headed to San Francisco next week on a trip timed to coincide with the Game Developer's Conference where we hope to meet with members of the press & catch up with friends. Maybe we'll see you there?

As always we genuinely appreciate your curiousty, patience & faith as a time of miracles approaches.

We are so thankful for your attention as you struggle through our unnecessarily verbose elocution (which has occasionally been described as irritatingly cryptic). We know there have been awkward situations wherein some lovely folks who are generously & optimistically anticipating the release of S:S&S EP feel a bit bananas miffed at times, if they're being honest, even though they totally understand & wish us well otherwise.
